Rachel’s journey to becoming a counselor began with a personal health crisis leading her to her passion: forensic psychology. Living with chronic illness helps Rachel focus on what is both doable and high priority. These experiences enable her to support others in trauma or distress. Demonstrated areas of expertise include psychological assessment and diagnosis, treatment of sex offenders, trauma resolution, crisis intervention, suicidal ideation and self-harm, depression, neurocognitive disorders, substance abuse and personality disorders.
Rachel has worked in private practice as an affiliate sex offender treatment provider with both adults and juveniles. She has also worked in county and state facilities treating incarcerated patients for mental health issues and has experience with both individual and group counseling.
Rachel utilizes evidence-based treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative therapy. Rachel welcomes clients regardless of their current circumstances or past histories with an open mind and open heart.
Rachel earned her Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from the University of Houston-Victoria in 2014. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009 from Texas State University in International Business. She also holds an Associate of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies which is an asset in forensic casework.
