    Rhonda Gates, LPC Associate

    Supervised by Jenai Tidwell LPC-Supervisor

Hello! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Jenai Tidwell, LPC-S. I am dedicated to empowering adults aged 18 and older to not just overcome, but truly thrive in the face of life’s challenges. My approach is grounded in a strengths-based perspective, focusing on your inherent capabilities to foster growth and resilience.

In our sessions, you’ll experience a nonjudgmental and empathetic environment where your unique experiences and feelings are truly valued. My approach blends person-centered therapy with practical techniques from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness. These tools are designed to address your immediate challenges of anxiety, depression, and trauma, while also equipping you with skills for lasting change.

I also incorporate Brainspotting (BSP), a technique developed by Dr. David Grand. BSP operates on the principle that “where you look affects how you feel,” allowing us to focus on specific points in your visual field to help your brain access and process trauma. This method can effectively address a variety of psychological and somatic conditions, promoting deeper healing and transformation. Here is a link on Brainspotting to learn more!

By working with me, you’ll gain:

    • A Safe Space: A nonjudgmental and empathetic environment where you can openly explore your thoughts and feelings.
    • Practical Strategies: Tools from SFBT, CBT, and Mindfulness to navigate your life’s challenges and foster personal growth.
    • Deep Healing: The benefits of Brainspotting to help you process and resolve trauma, leading to profound emotional and physical relief.

Together, we’ll work towards understanding and overcoming the complexities you face, creating a path toward lasting well-being and personal transformation.

    Education

My educational background includes a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Tyler, an M.S. in Construction Management from Texas A&M University, and an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. My clinical experience includes a practicum at Alvin Community College and an internship at Sardelich Counseling and Consulting.
